Splash Pages
A Splash page is simply an
introduction page to your site. The Splash page generally sets
the theme for the site and may include such tools as site
navigation or a description or the purpose of your business. As
splash pages are an introductory page to your Web site they
typically offer one or two of the following features:
* graphic or logo
* animation or flash movie
* choice of how to enter the site (flash/no-flash, etc.)
* technical requirements (browser, version, etc.)
Splash pages can be very popular, especially for designers, as
they are a way to show your skills in Flash and other
technologies on a single page.
Advantages of Splash Pages
* Splash pages are fast loading, they get all the information up
quickly on the first page without scrolling.
* Splash pages ensure that your readers see your animation or
flash.
* They are a great way to show off your best work, like a
portfolio.
Think of a splash page as a welcome mat at your front door... or
an appetizer before the main meal. It gives you a hint of what
lies beyond. It is the first page of a website, usually with a
stunning image that you click on to enter the website. It should
download quickly, so the viewer enters your site after just a
short wait.
Sometimes a splash page can
appear once to welcome you to the website, and then not appear
again, where as others can be a permanent splash page.
